To challenge Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 outright, Lenovo has rolled out a new 5.3-inch phablet, the Lenovo S920 with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean set to appear out of the box. The device can also be reviewed as an affordable and midrange model to the growing phablet market. Coming from the Chinese tech maker, which is known for selling products for low prices, the S920 will be available for a reasonable price. Of course, it can thus attract more customers in China, India and other emerging economies.
Lenovo has utilized a HD display for this gadget. It is frustrating that the company has missed to add a FullHD display, which appears to be the rage at the point of time. All major tech makers have recently produced FullHD devices as their premium models. But, Lenovo, which already has a flagship phablet with FHD display in K900, has decided to put the S920 with a regular HD screen. It should be a move to keep the price of the device down, of course.
The processor inside the gadget is not that much attractive though. It is a new MTK 6589 chip-based quad core processor clocked at 1.2GHz. Well, it is a quad core one, but is missing better clocking speed. Lenovo’s K900, at the same time, has a dual core 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z2580 processor, which is nearly outstanding, though missing quad cores. Other specs of the new Lenovo phone include 1GB RAM and 4GB internal memory with microSD slot for memory expansion up to 32GB.
Needless to say, Android 4.2 will the biggest selling point of the device other than its price. The latest Android version, which currently runs only on Google’s Nexus devices, is about to make its voyage to the third party Android handsets. Samsung’s new Galaxy S4 and other new devices are now announced to get this Android version under the cover. Lenovo K900 is also slated to get Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which will bring many exciting and cool things to your Android experience.
Going through other specs, the new Lenovo phone has an 8MP camera at its rear panel. It offers features like autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus and face detection. The device has a 2MP front camera for video chatting. And, it has GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, HSUPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB for connectivity. The battery inside the S920 is a Li-Ion 2250mAh one and it is having a 7.9mm thinner body. As per pricing, it is reported that Lenovo is to sell the device for 799 Yuan, something equal to $130 in the U.S. dollar.
As we put it above, a reasonable price and latest Android version are two stunning selling points of the Lenovo S920. Furthermore, the gadget will be getting customers for its thin and pretty body, a larger HD display and more. At all, there is a good chance that this device will remain a stiff rival to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 and other top phablets at least in China. It is not clear whether the device will head to global markets anytime.
